Custom Wired Cabinets

Northwest Signal Supply has been designing and fabricating fully wired traffic signal controller cabinets for nearly a decade. Our trained staff services the needs of customers in a manner that meets the highest quality standards in the industry. We custom build cabinets to our customer’s exact specifications. When a customer does not have specifications finalized, we work with them to make sure they get what they need.

NWS manufactures cabinets from marine grade aluminum and stainless steel. Cabinets can be delivered them unfinished, painted or powder-coated.

Quality By Design

Many companies outsource their supply of back panels and enclosures, but Northwest Signal Supply wires and manufactures these items on the premises, giving the production managers complete control of the supply of material. This translates directly into optimal customer service.

If the cabinet is built for a specific intersection, the cabinet is set up for that intersection before it is shipped. The conflict monitor card is programmed, load switch jumpers installed and the controller programmed. All wired cabinets are functionally tested prior to field installation.

Some customers require environmental testing of the cabinet and all electronics therein. This is performed by slowly raising the temperature in the chamber to 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). The temperature is held for 24 hours and the voltage is increased to 135 VAC and held for an additional 24 hours.

The temperature is then decreased to -30 degrees F (-34 degrees C), this temperature is also held for 24 hours and the voltage is decreased to 95 VAC and held for more 24 hours. The cabinet and equipment are then returned to ambient temperature and if there have been no failures, the cabinet and equipment get documented as passed and can be shipped to the customer.

NWS also manufactures standard and custom NEMA cabinets and enclosures for the transportation and communications industries.
